Abstract

The transformation of the automotive industry towards the development of connected and autonomous vehicles is leading to drastic increases in complexity in the product development process. This requires a new way of thinking, "systems thinking".
Systems engineering meets the classic product development disciplines, organisations and people with the aim of enabling decisions to be made at concept level. It is important to manage artefacts from all development domains (mechanics, electrics, electronics, software) as a traceable unit in the respective form for vehicle certification or homologation, for example.
