Abstract

Configuration Management (CM) plays a central role in PLM. Product configurations and build statuses must be controlled and monitored from the initial idea through development and production to the in-service phase. These requirements are increasingly found in quality standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 9100 and also AQAP regulations, which are primarily used in the military environment. However, only the "what" is described here, not the "how". Especially in today's world, in which changes have to be implemented faster and more frequently, CM, with change management as a central component, must also be adapted to the new requirements.
We therefore address the following questions:
What role does the "digital twin" play in CM? Can a digital twin perhaps even replace CM?
How do we deal with "update over the air" in the area of change management? How are such changes authorised and in which products was the change actually "built in"?
How will agile development methods and new approaches such as crowd engineering influence CM processes in the future?
Broadly speaking, the question is: How are CM processes affected by increasing digitalisation and how do they need to be changed in order to keep pace with the digital world?
An exciting topic that we would like to introduce to you in our presentation
