Closed-loop PLM and Digital Twin as the basis for new business models

Abstract

Using the specific project example of a leading plant manufacturer, the importance of the integration and collaboration of all areas across the entire closed-loop product lifecycle for future competitiveness is demonstrated.
In a digital transformation programme, a modular product structure of the systems was set up and mapped in the PLM system in a configurable way. This made it possible to introduce new processes and significantly speed up product development and the realisation of customer orders. The introduction of a new loT platform has digitally connected the systems. The operational data can thus be combined with the product information from the PLM system and allow the digital twin to be used for optimised maintenance, operational management and the introduction of new business models. The digital twin is visualised using the latest augmented reality technologies.
This project example clearly shows how important PLM is as a basis for digital transformation and future viability when it is sensibly combined with new technologies such as loT and Digital Twin and is therefore more in tune with the times than ever
